LOFT TYPES

REAR DORMER

Dormers can often be constructed without requiring planning permission and are an ideal way of giving that extra bit of extended head height. The size of the dormer can vary if it needs to remain in keeping with the property and where a flat roof is not acceptable to the aesthetics of the house.

VELUX

The conversation of choice for many period properties especially the ones situated in conversation areas. The simple and discreet roof windows and low impact on external alterations can also mean a cost effective method of adding space to a property, and a valuable choice for those working to a tight budget.

MANSARD

A mansard roof has the advantage of maximising the available space within your loft. Mansard conversions are commonly built by raising the walls either side of your house to make the profile for the mansard and then creating the timber frame. Although this is common in older properties, however it is also used for flat roof properties which fall within a conversation area. A Mansard loft conversion will almost certainly require a planning permission.

HIP TO GABLE

A Hip to Gable loft conversion usually occurs with semi-detached, detached or end of terraced houses. Additionally this style of loft conversion is usually built when a house has 3 separate slanting sides of its roof. The side of the roof is then extended out and made vertical this can also be beneficial when a house lacks the required space within the loft to build any other style of loft conversion. A hip to gable conversion will also allow for a more seamless staircase fitting within your home due to the newly created space within your home. All changes made to the property externally will be fitted and matched within all pre-existing aspects of the house, allowing for an overall aesthetically pleasing look inside and out.
